The rumor mill surrounding Apple’s plans for a refresh of the 24-inch iMac has taken another turn. Last week, prominent Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the updated iMac wouldn’t be released until 2024. However, in a recent edition of his Power On newsletter for Bloomberg, analyst Mark Gurman suggested that the machine could actually be landing at the end of this month. So, who’s right?
According to Gurman’s sources, Apple is planning a “Mac-centered product launch around the end of this month.” He believes that this could be the perfect opportunity for Apple to announce the new 24-inch iMac. Gurman speculates that the most likely dates for an announcement will be either October 30 or 31. While Gurman didn’t provide any specific details about the new iMac’s specifications, he has previously mentioned that it will likely come with Apple’s M3 chip.
Gurman also noted that Apple is running low on stock for the 24-inch iMac, as well as the 13-inch MacBook Pro and high-end MacBook Pros. He suggests that refreshes of these laptops could also be announced at the end of this month. The fact that several configurations of these products won’t arrive until mid-November when ordered from Apple’s website is seen as a clear sign that something is about to happen.
On the other hand, Ming-Chi Kuo, another well-known Apple analyst, claims that the updated 24-inch iMac won’t be released until 2024. Kuo believes that Apple is still working on a larger, pro version of the iMac, which is likely to arrive in late 2024 or the following year with a 32-inch display.
Gurman also briefly mentioned new iPads in his newsletter, stating that they are unlikely to be released until around March of next year. So, if you’re eagerly waiting for a new iPad, it looks like you’ll have to wait a bit longer.
While both analysts have their own sources and track records, only time will tell who is correct. Apple has remained tight-lipped about its plans for the 24-inch iMac and other product refreshes. We’ll have to wait until the end of this month to see if Gurman’s predictions hold true. Until then, Apple fans will be eagerly anticipating any news or announcements from the tech giant.
