Swing into Action: Unlocking Fast Travel in Marvel's Spider-Man 2
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a highly enjoyable game to simply move around in, thanks to its silky smooth swinging mechanics and new wingsuits. The expanded New York map serves as a playground for Spider-Man. However, as the map grows larger with the addition of a new section, traveling from one end to the other can become time-consuming. While traversal is fun, there will be times when you just want to skip the trip and get where you need to be, especially when you’re doing sidequests or collecting items. Fortunately, Spider-Man 2 takes full advantage of the PlayStation 5’s SSD with near-instant fast travel. But before you can use it, you’ll need to unlock it.
How to Unlock Fast Travel
Fast travel is initially locked in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and must be earned for each borough of the game’s map. Each section of the map has a completion ranking that increases as you engage in various activities within it. These activities include sidequests, photo-ops, Marko’s Memories, stopping crimes, and more. Each completed activity boosts the total level, with three rewards tied to specific points. While the first reward grants you some Rare Tech Parts, it’s the second reward that unlocks the fast travel option. Once you reach around 50% completion in a specific zone, you will unlock the ability to fast travel within that borough. You’ll need to repeat this process for each borough to fully unlock the fast travel feature across the entire map.
Using Fast Travel
Once you have unlocked fast travel in one or more areas, you can take full advantage of it. Simply open your map and place your cursor over the exact spot you want to travel to. The cursor may adjust slightly to position itself between buildings, but after holding down the Triangle button, the game will zoom directly into the map and seamlessly give you control of Spider-Man. You can start swinging or gliding from the exact location where you wanted to be.
With fast travel unlocked, you can now easily navigate the expansive New York map in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Whether you’re swinging through the city or using the new wingsuits, the game offers a thrilling experience. And when you’re focused on sidequests or collecting items, fast travel provides a convenient way to quickly reach your destination without spending too much time on traversal.
