During Intel’s Innovation keynote, the company showcased its upcoming Meteor Lake processors, set to launch in December. However, they also shed light on the roadmap for future generations of CPUs, and the good news is that the release timeframes remain on track without any delays observed so far.
Following the release of Meteor Lake for mobile devices, Arrow Lake will be Intel’s next desktop and mobile offering. It is expected to come after Meteor Lake and the imminent desktop refresh, Raptor Lake Refresh. While the exact release date is not confirmed, Arrow Lake is speculated to arrive in late 2024.
Lunar Lake, which is likely to follow Arrow Lake, will be highly focused on power efficiency, providing power-sipping mobile CPUs. It can be best compared to Intel’s Ice Lake outing. Intel even showcased a test system powered by Lunar Lake at the Innovation event, hinting at a possible launch in 2025.
Panther Lake, which will succeed Arrow Lake, is expected to be released during the first quarter of 2024. The chip design is reportedly complete, according to Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger. However, it’s important to note that the finished processors will still take some time to roll off assembly lines. Therefore, it is unlikely that we will see Panther Lake until at least 2025, possibly even 2026.
Intel appears to be satisfied with the progress it is making on its roadmap. The future generations of processors are expected to bring significant advancements. Arrow Lake, in particular, has rumors suggesting a substantial performance uplift. This is crucial for Intel to keep up with AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 8000 (Zen 5) processors, set to make an impact in mid-next year.
Intel’s roadmap for its next generations of CPUs remains on track, with no reported delays so far. The company is working on Arrow Lake, Lunar Lake, and Panther Lake, each offering unique features and improvements. While Arrow Lake is expected to provide a significant performance boost, it remains to be seen how Intel will compete with AMD’s Ryzen 8000 processors in the future. Exciting times lie ahead for CPU enthusiasts as the competition between Intel and AMD continues to heat up.
